The Story
I didn't go to New Hall watermill looking for love.
When I drove my wagon down the track in the middle of a sudden spring storm, I wasn't looking for love. With a farm to save and a father who needed me, there wasn’t room in my life for vanity or the foolish dreams of a girl. But Samuel, the new master miller, was ambitious and kind, with a smile that warmed me to the cockles of my heart. Just one look at him, with his strong flour-dusted arms, and my world shifted on its axis. In his company, I found a sanctuary that I never knew I was searching for. But with the farm hanging by a thread and my father’s life in the balance, wasn’t loving a man like Samuel a betrayal of everything I had sworn to protect?
