Riveted - a steamy Regency novelette!
I'm getting some fantastic reviews for this book!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was drawn to it because of the cover. And it didn’t disappoint—I absolutely loved the story. This is a perfect example of a one-hour read: short, concise, clear, and to the point, with no plot holes. When I read the word 'soldier,' I actually cracked up! 😂😂😂 And I really loved the epilogue. I hope there’s a story about Edward’s siblings, William and Mary Jane.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My first time reading this author and I was not disappointed. The characters were intriguing with much charisma and passion. The plot was wonderfully carried out to the very lovely end.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a historical instalove read and I loved it so much. Edward and Elizabeth were such good characters and were so sweet together. I love that they helped one another find their strength. The spicy scene is so well written. I do wish the book was longer actually, I would have loved to spend more time in Sidmouth!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Riveted is a sweet and spicy Regency romance that’s perfect for a single‑sitting read. When Elizabeth escapes to her aunt’s cottage after heartbreak, she unexpectedly stumbles into her happily‑ever‑after. Sheri Green blends charm, passion, and historical flair into a short but satisfying story that leaves you smiling. Quick, romantic, and delightful. Highly recommended.

How steamy is steamy?
This novelette is a steamy 'Instalove' historical Regency romance, featuring a swoon-worthy hero and a curvy, resourceful heroine. There's a fair bit of sexual tension, with one steamy kiss scene (which I'm particularly proud of!) and one big intimacy scene, which is mainstream, with full consent. There's no swearing, the angst is low, and the sexual terminology is mild or euphemistic. And of course, there's a satisfying happy-ever-after ending!
A boatbuilding theme!
I’d like to thank Alex Mears of H.J. Mears and Son for checking my descriptions of boatbuilding and riveting and for providing several valuable suggestions. H.J. Mears was established in 1945 in the village of Beer. They are now based in Seaton, and they remain experts in the construction of traditional clinker-built boats. I was very relieved that Alex only found a few tweaks and nothing that was a major stumbling block for my plot. That would have been a disaster!
What's the plot?
Elizabeth is a young woman who is reeling from a humiliating almost-betrothal and the ignominy of bumping into her former intended and his new bride-to-be everywhere she goes. Fortunately, she has a place to hide. Unfortunately, it's cold, miserable, and absolutely not the glamourous seaside retreat she was promised.
When a very distracting broad-shouldered boatbuilder disturbs her hard-won composure, the spark between them is immediate, undeniable, and utterly improper. But Edward is a man with a haunted past, whispered about in town and burdened by guilt. As dark rumours surface and Elizabeth uncovers the truth, can she trust the man who sets her body alight?
This book is published under my pen name, Sheri Green.
