At my desk, 5th May 2026
Over the last couple of days I've moved my social media activity over to TikTok, as I'm so disillusioned with Facebook and Instagram. Already I'm making contact with some great authors and enthusiastic readers, and I'm feeling very positive that this move will not only scratch my social media itch but also help me to find my 'tribe'.
P.S. The photo above is from my beautiful 1811 Barclay's Dictionary!
It's early days, so I'm experimenting with a range of posts, including animations of Regency etchings, animations of my book covers, and other bookish snippets, and of course there will be more announcements and updates from my writing desk. I expect that after a short while I'll be able to develop the content in a direction that works for me and my audience.
Anyway, today, I added the video below to TikTok. Enjoy!

I'm 99% certain that the embed code I've used will show the video on most browsers, but if it doesn't work for you (you may see some brown or italic writing just above this paragraph), you can see it on TikTok by clicking here (no need to sign up).
If you're already on TikTok please come and find me! If you're not, honestly, it's not just young people on TikTok. There are people of all ages and all interests there. I think it's a great platform because it levels the playing field and makes everyone equally discoverable (including quirky women in their 60s with pink hair). For the first few days you'll probably see a lot of posts you HATE, and you'll feel like giving up! But if you're patient, and you keep posting, liking and following, TikTok very quickly learns what you like, and gradually you'll start seeing interesting content. It gets better and better as time goes on!
Maybe I'll see you there!
