360° tour of Glascote's canalside Cemetery

I have recently started volunteering for Find a Grave, which is a good way for me to go for a walk and to be productive and helpful at the same time. I particularly enjoy responding to requests for pictures of particular gravestones. This sometimes involves a bit of detective work, especially when trying to work out the location of unmarked graves.

Today I created a 360° tour of my local cemetery at Glascote. It is right beside the canal, and although you can't see the canal from the cemetery as it's lined with trees, sometimes you can hear the thumping of a heritage engine going past.

Some true canal folk are buried in this cemetery. The famed boat builder and operator Samuel Barlow and his family are here, as are members of the Crowshaw family who lived at Bottom Lock Cottage and the Allsops who lived at Top Lock.

There are some other interesting individuals of note here, including Tom Lawrence Williams, who founded the Reliant motor company here from small beginnings in the back garden of his house in Kettlebrook, Tamworth, a short walk from the canal. You can sometimes see Reliant meets taking place on the lawns at Tamworth Cruising Club, and our house is actually built on the old Robin Reliant factory site!

On this tour you can explore the main path through the cemetery.
