Regency Writing April 2026

Hello again! I thought it was time for an update. I'm currently working on several books, including a long-awaited canal-themed one and also my second steamy one!

My first steamy, a boatbuilder-themed novelette, Riveted, did very well on its launch on Friday. Over the weekend, it got to number 4 in the US and number 1 in the UK in the Best Sellers list for free Historical Romance Short Stories. Its one and only review (on Goodreads) says:

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Riveted is a sweet and spicy Regency romance that’s perfect for a single‑sitting read. When Elizabeth escapes to her aunt’s cottage after heartbreak, she unexpectedly stumbles into her happily‑ever‑after. Sheri Green blends charm, passion, and historical flair into a short but satisfying story that leaves you smiling. Quick, romantic, and delightful. Highly recommended.

It definitely looks like I'll be doing more steamies in the future!

One other project has moved ahead in the queue, and that's The Miller and the Marigold, a sweet and clean Regency watermill romance based at New Hall Mill in Sutton Coldfield, where I volunteer to run the website and act as unofficial historian.

Whilst this story will be fictional, it will include some real events, locations, and individuals that inspired my story. One of the characters I will be mentioning is William Twamley, who was the leaseholder of New Hall Mill during the Regency period.

We only have a smattering of evidence about William's life, and importantly, we know very little about the millers he employed to do the hands-on work at New Hall Mill. I have taken advantage of this absence of information to create a fictional cast of characters for this book and possible sequels. My master miller hero (probably called Samuel) and my heroine (probably called Jane) will be products of my imagination.

By the way, I've had a rewarding time this weekend redesigning all my covers, and thankfully the response has been positive! The best place to see them all together is on my Romance page here.

Here's the draft cover for The Miller and the Marigold! I hope you like the picture of Samuel and Jane.

Happy reading!
