⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would very much appreciate a review and some stars on Amazon.
'Bound' is my first attempt at writing the popular American mail-order bride trope with a unique British Regency twist. I think it might be one of my best stories yet! It's a tender, low-steam love story with one mainstream, vanilla bedroom scene rated 🌶️🌶️. I've totally fallen in love with George, the tortured hero.
Genres and Tropes
Regency Romance – Short Story – Instalove – Kisses Only – Historical Fiction – Protective Man – Mail Order Bride – Marriage of Convenience – Single Mother – Guaranteed Happy Ever After.
The Story
A mail-order bride historical fiction romance, inspired by real 19th-century matrimonial advertising.
When a desperate young mother, Catherine, answers a matrimonial advertisement, her most fervent hope is to secure a safe future for herself and her illegitimate child. She arrives in Devon to find that her intended husband, George, is a guarded and broken-hearted man. As they develop a cautious friendship and gradually lower their walls, their marriage of convenience is unsettled by an undeniable chemistry that neither of them expected. When past betrayals and buried secrets threaten to tear them apart, Catherine and George must each decide whether their relationship is strong enough to overcome disapproval and risk opening their hearts.
Setting
This story is set at Thorne Manor, an ancient cob and thatch manor house in East Devon, England. George runs Thorne Paper Mill. Both are fictional, but inspired by locations in East Devon.
Warning
This book contains references to non-consensual sexual behaviour and mental illness caused by emotional trauma. Do not proceed, or exercise caution, if you find these subjects triggering.
This book is part of a series of steamy stand-alone short reads set in Regency times. In my steamy stories, there are one or two open-door sex scenes. These are always mainstream with full consent. There is no swearing stronger than ‘damn’, and the sexual terminology is mild or euphemistic.
